apt-get install error

I installed libwxgtk2.2-python, which upgraded a lot of other packages
in the process and now I have an apt-get problem. There was an error
during the install and running apt-get -f install returns:

# apt-get -f install

I have moved /usr/sbin/gnome-pty-helper to a different name but I guess
apt looks in the database and sees the file.

How do I get out of this mess?

Thanks,
Steve
