Re: Cyberclops, this ones for you

Just in case there is any confusion as to how to use the two scripts, here
is a little more info to get you started. First of all, these files are in
plain text for man and need to be because that is what bash can
read. Second, don't try to open these files from you mail program, rather
save them to the ~/bin directory. If you use netscape mail, you should see
the two files listed in the bottom of the email. Right click on the file
and select save as from the menu, then save them to your bin
directory. Third, you will need to modify the permissions of the files to
make them executable, you can do this by going to your favorite file
manager, selecting the file, then going to properties...there should be a
section for setting the permissions. You can also use chmod at the command
prompt. Once you have made the files executable, you can run the first one
however you please. I wouldn't suggest using the terminal (even though
this works just fine...but it defeats the point of avoiding xterm in the
first place.), rather make an icon, and choose to run the command
script1.sh.

One other thing worth noting, you need to have ~/bin in your path
otherwise this wont work. I believe that by default, libranet sets up you
.bashrc so that ~/bin will be included if it exists, but you may also have
to set up your desktop environment to look there as well for executables.

good luck

Jason
