Re: modem quit when I installed sound card



I don't think there is a com5 which would be ttyS4 which doesn't exit on
my machine. You have two options: a) create ttyS4 or b) check the
windows settings and maybe you can use the setserial command (man
setserial) to reconfigure one of the exiting ttyS's to match the windows
settings. Be aware that setserial is only temporary and will have to be
run again the next time you reboot.

If you opt for the setserial command then get it working in a console
after which you can set the command up in a script file which would be
placed in /etc/init.d and called via symlink from /etc/rc2.d so the port
is reconfigured every time you boot.

Third option: can you jumper the card to one of the existing com ports?
