gcc 2.95.3 is the latest 2.95 series gcc
gcc 3.0.2 (or is it .3) is the latest in the 3.0 series
I _think_ 3.1 is the development branch.

The Debian gcc 2.95 and 3.0 packages can safely co-exists, and 3.0 will
only be used if you explicitly set $(CC) to gcc-3.0
