Re: How to go online with DSL?

Here is what you will need to do for DSL connection.

First, you will need a version of pppoe. I'm pretty sure that this is
not part of libranet 1.9.1. You will have to download the most recent
version from www.roaringpenguin.com.

Next you will have to install the module for your ethernet card, but do
not give it any further settings. If you have already configured the
card, edit its setting for a static IP (even though it won't be) and
leave every field blank.

Now you can untar the pppoe package and read the info on installing it
(its very simple...just follow the instuctions).

Now for the setup. First, forget all the Mandrake adsl script names
because if I remember correctly, they change the names (don't ask me why
because they use the pppoe software from roaringpenguin). The script to
configure is "adsl-setup". After you configure adsl (set it up on eth0
if you have only one card), the scripts you need to know are
"adsl-start" "adsl-stop" and "adsl-restart". I think those are self
explanitory.

Let me know if you get stuck.
