Hi Rod,

Your write up appears to be correct, however,  if you computer and modem
will support a faster port speed, like 115K, I would advise you use it. 
Here is the reason:

When your modem is talking to your ISP, it is connected at 45333, but
that is a compressed connection.  It may be actually sending an
uncompressed data rate of 60000 baud or so.  However, the port speed
from the modem to the computer is *not* compressed (The modem is supusto
handle the compression for the computer).  This means the modem may be
droping packets while your processor transfers the data to memory,
because the uncompressed modem data rate is faster then your set port
speed.

Other things to consider: .jpg's and .mp3's are already compressed
(although with a lossy compression) and may not be compressed further
during your data transfers, thus you may not be seeing the bottle neck. 
But, .txt and .html (a text file) files should compress near 2x or 4x,
and should load faster if your port speed is increased.
