Re: USB printer difficulties



I did some digging but didn't come up with much. For some reason
libranet didn't set up usb devices. Makedev will make the new device but
I haven't been able to find out how to set up the major/minor numbers.
Maybe it just asks you for them. I checked the corel linux install I
have on another machine and the major number is 180; minor number 0.
Just guessing on the minor number. In midnight commander (mc) the
devices in /dev list under the size column number,number so I guess
these are the major,minor numbers. You could cd to the /dev directory
and ./makedev usblp (as root of course). You need the ./ as /dev is not
in your executables path.

I have no good (as understandable) documentation on my machine regarding
makedev. Nothing of use in a redhat 7.2 manual I have either.
